NATO Helicopters strike Pakistani Check post, Fourteen Pakistani troops killed

Mohamad Agency: Nato helicopters from Afghanistan intruded into northwest Pakistan and attacked a military check post near the border on Saturday, killing at least fourteen Pakistani border troops and wounding four, Pakistani intelligence officials said. 

A Pakistani military spokesman confirmed the pre-dawn attack in the tribal region of Mohmand and said casualties had been reported, but gave no details.

Haqqani Network Announces Support for Taliban Peace Talks

The most feared faction fighting Nato troops in Afghanistan would support the Taliban leadership in any future peace talks.The statement was made by Sirajuddin Haqqani, the son of the legendary Mujahideen leader Jalaluddin Haqqani and now commander of the most ruthless insurgency militia.

Although the United States has put a $5 million reward on his head as his faction has been blamed for some of the most damaging assaults on Nato forces in Afghanistan, and his statement in an interview with Reuters has caused a wave of excitement among Afghanistan analysts and foriegn diplomats.

Taliban suicide attack on US Advance Post wounds 50 US soldiers

JALALABAD: US army said on Sunday that a suicide bomber driving a truck loaded with improvised explosive device has attacked an advance Nato combat post in central Afghanistan, wounding 89 people including 50 American soldiers.

Immediately after the attack the Taliban claimed responsibility on their Internet site, news of which came as the world marked the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Four Afghan Police killed by Nato air strike

JALALABAD: At least four Afghan policemen killed by NATO air strike overnight as claimed by governor of Jalalabad on this Monday.

The incident happened at a police post in rugged and insurgency-hit Nuristan, the province’s governor Jamaluddin Badr said, adding the strike was based on “wrong intelligence”.

An Afghan Guard Kills US Soldiers

KABUL  :  An Afghan guard killed two men serving with the NATO-led coalition in a secure area of Afghanistan on Saturday, Afghan and NATO officials said, in the latest attack on foreign troops by rogue members of national security forces.

The assailant, identified as Amanullah, was a bodyguard for the deputy head of Afghanistan’s intelligence service, an agency official said, adding that the guard was off-duty when he opened fire and killed the two men.

Canada to pull out of Nato air surveillance

OTTAWA: Canadian has announced that he is withdrawing from a key Nato air surveillance program as part of cost-cutting measures.

The Nato Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) is widely used by the alliance in Afghanistan and Libya to monitor air space and guide fighter jets to their targets.

Nato troops killed in southern Afghanistan

Kandahar : The US-led coalition said Two of their troops were killed in a in separate insurgent attacks Friday in the south Afghanistan. 

The coalition did not disclose further details of the deaths or the troops’ nationalities. The statements on the latest fatalities were released late Friday and Saturday.

More than 200 Nato troops have died so far this year in Afghanistan.

Nato issues an apology for Killing Women and Children in Airstrike

The international coalition forces in Afghanistan has admitted the deaths of Women and Children in air strike hours after Hamid Karzai had given America a “final warning” to change its tactics and avoid killing civilians.

A statement said aircraft, which locals said were helicopters, fired into a house where insurgents had fled after killing a United States Marine.
