Pakistani Players wanted Afridi replaced by Slaman Butt, court heard



LONDON: Pakistani Cricketers were ready to throw one-day internationals and Twenty20s in a bid to undermine then-captain Shahid Afridi and make “a hell of a lot of money”, a London court heard on Tuesday.

Mazhar Majeed, an agent for several Pakistan players, told an undercover reporter last year that the players wanted Afridi replaced by then-Test captain Salman Butt and were prepared to fix matches to do it, Southwark Crown Court heard.

Muhammad Aamir Confesses his Involvement in Spot Fixing


LAHORE: Banned Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Aamir have reportedly admitted to their involvement in the spot-fixing incident in last year`s Lord`s Test before a court in England on Friday along with Azhar Majeed, however Salman Butt and medium-fast bowler Mohammad Asif, both are stuck to their earlier stand that they are innocent and never signed any fixing deal with Azhar Majeed. 

It was unclear whether Aamir and Majeed had changed their earlier statements under any pressure or done it in order to become approvers in the case.
