MOSCOW: Russia has placed successfully in orbit a GLONASS satellite for global navigation purposes.
According to federal space agency Roscosmos the GLONASS-M spacecraft was launched by a Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in Russia.
